A word of history :
On the Day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit descended in Jerusalem and baptized the tarrying disciples of Lord Jesus Christ in the upper room. The New Testament Christian Church was born on that day. The Spirit filled disciples traveled all over the known world and proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus Christ. St. Thomas, the Apostle of Christ, came to India and pioneered several churches in Malankara (Kerala) and became a martyr at Mylapore, near Chennai.
But the Christian churches in South India went through several changes and became alienated from its original biblical doctrine and practice. Church always renews itself in its teachings and faith through reformers and revivalists. In the first decade of 20th Century Pentecostal revival broke out in the World and spread to the uttermost parts. From 1909 Pentecostal preachers and revival preachers were used of God in Malankara to spread the spiritual fire.
Before 1930 several local fellowships with spirit filled experience joined together to form as Christian denomination and registered as a Society in 1935 with the name The Indian Pentecostal Church of God (I.P.C.)
Ever since the torch of Pentecostal truth such as the experience of water baptism and Holy Spirit baptism is carried by IPC in India and abroad. It is a vibrant Church with mission zeal
and a spirit of charity; but also a unique stand of separation from worldly systems such as ornaments and priestly robs.
IPC is growing fast and wide. Let us stand together to fulfill the great commission.
